Missouri’s Kansas City A Homeland Security Investigations ( HSI ) and law enforcement partner investigation led to the indictment of a Bolivar man on June 27 on charges of sexual exploitation of children.

Merle G. Daniels, 44, was charged in a three-count prosecution claiming that from November 9 to December 9, 2022, he produced child pornography using an underage target. Additionally, he faces charges of transferring vulgar material to the child victim and being a registered sex offender, both of which are felonies involving minors.

Daniels was earlier found guilty of legal rape, two counts of legal adultery, and interference with guardianship in Greene County. He is now a registered sex offender.

This prosecution only contains charges; there is no proof of guilt. A federal trial jury may be presented with the evidence to support the expenses in order for it to decide whether the defendant is guilty or innocent.

The event was looked into by HSI, the Sheriff’s Departments of Greene County and Polk, as well as the Springfield Police Department and Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force. Stephanie L. Wan, an assistant U. S. counsel, is prosecuting.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security ( DHS )’ s principal investigative arm, known as HSI, is in charge of looking into transnational crime and threats, particularly those criminal organizations that take advantage of the global infrastructure that allows for the movement of international trade, travel, and finance. More than 6, 000 special providers are employed by HSIA in 237 American cities and 93 foreign locations spread across 56 nations, making up the company’s men of more than 8,700 workers. DHS has one of the largest global footprints in U.S. law enforcement, and its international reputation represents the agency’s largest investigative law Enforcement presence abroad.

The Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to combat the rising epidemic of child physical abuse and mistreatment, included this event in its presentation. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local solutions to find, capture and prosecute people who sexually abuse children, as well as to identify and save patients. It is led by the practices of U.S. prosecutors and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the Criminal Division.
