Department of Defense Spokesman Lt. Col. David Herndon provided the following readout:

Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. Colin Kahl met with German Foreign Policy and Security Advisor to the Chancellor Mr. Jens Plötner, today at the Pentagon to discuss current matters important to the U.S.-German defense relationship.

The two leaders discussed a range of defense and security issues including the war in Ukraine, strategy in the Indo-Pacific region, and the upcoming NATO Summit. In addition, the discussion highlighted Germany’s newly published National Security Strategy, and the Under Secretary expressed thanks to Germany for support to bolster NATO’s deterrence and defense.
