Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken today led a roundtable discussion on food security with agricultural industry and labor leaders and welcomed greater collaboration in addressing the global food crisis at the Rockefeller Foundation. The Secretary stressed the impact that climate change is presenting on agricultural yields and discussed focusing on the fundamentals vis-a-vis the Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACS), which leverages investment in climate-adapted crops and healthy, fertile soils as a long-term solution to food insecurity. He underscored the unique expertise and innovations that stem from the private sector and invited industry leaders to share their perspectives on increasing agricultural productivity to meet growing global food demand. Secretary Blinken and attendees agreed to explore opportunities to further collaborate in order to address the food scarcity facing millions around the world.
